Memorandum presented to the Bangladesh Embassy in Tokyo

Occasion:
BSSAJ's introductory meeting with the Ambassador
Place:
Bangladesh Embassy, Tokyo
Audience:
Ambassador Md. Daud Ali and Embassy officials

A twelve-point memorandum — student remittance data, the five-year plan for 55,000 students, an SSW route for COE-refused students, language-test seat shortages. The full analysis is in four briefs in the Research section.

In his own words

Every year 2,700 to 3,500 students come to Japan from Bangladesh, and through them the government receives crores of taka in remittance each year. It is with great regret that I report that the government of Bangladesh has no plan for those who work with students.

The Japanese government has recently raised its target for students from around the world from 300,000 to 400,000 — a great opportunity for us. In this context I, Nagamatsu Faruk, together with AJLIB and BSSAJ, have adopted a major plan to send 50,000–55,000 students from Bangladesh to Japan within the next five years.

— Nagamatsu Faruk, BSSAJ's introductory meeting with the Ambassador, 13 May 2025
